Good morning… I hope and pray that this finds you in the best of mind, body, and spirit. I had the chance to meet you a little over a year ago at Albion Correctional facility as an inmate. I have since been release. That part of my journey is now complete. I often remember where I’ve come from and just how far that I have come. The changes are absolutely amazing. Christmas was spent (f…or the first time in seven years) with all three of my daughters. I actually have stayed with Desirae and Destiny at their adopted mom’s house. My oldest Nicole, her bf Andy, and I go to church now every Sunday.
Ironically I got clean on my husband Jeremiah’s two year death anniversary. My 13 year old is in the shospital right now because she tried to kill herself. I pray that she is able to turn around. That’s where I was at the age of 13. trying desperately to find a friend – even if it was death. She is headed down the path that to many women trod. In time, only God can tell.
Thirteen credits from my BS Comp Science, I changed my major to BS Psychology – CASAC credentials. I’ll be done in a little over a year. I hope to one day return to these prisons; as an outsider; who once sat inside looking oiut; now looking in. I want these women to know that its possible, that even tho’ the odds are against us and they say that we won’t make it, WE CAN, WE DO, & WE WILL!
